Harry Potter and the De..... part 1

Ok... for those of you who don't know, the full title is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. And for those of you who don't know, my family are Harry Potter fans, nerds, freaks, zealots, enthusiasts, etc. And for the epic ending of the series, we had some special things we were going to do. First of all, the four of us (mom, Esther, Elizabeth, and I) finally got our dad (who had previously always avoided reading or watching Harry Potter for not specifically stated reasons) to watch and get semi-interested in the series so that the whole family could go and watch it together. And building up to the concluding film that was opening on July 15, 2011, we watched the whole series from the first movie to the sixth. We actually rented them from Blockbusters which means a lot coming from me~ The 7th episode, as most everyone knows, was split into two parts so the films could be more comprehensive and detailed than the previous ones. We bought tickets to watch both parts of the 7th all at once. It would start at 9; the first part would go till 11:40ish; and after a short break, we would watch the final film of the series at midnight. I even finished reading the whole series for the 8th time, so that the feeling of conclusion would be more real.

As much as I was excited for this last episode, I was a bit scared and really sad to say good bye to all the characters that had so grown on me over the past decade. Rewatching Harry, Hermione, and Ron in their large and dragging Hogwarts robes growing up to be the adults they are now was crazy fun and unforgettable. Having grown up watching them, it was like preparing to say good bye to someone really close and dear to me. Having made all the preparations, we finally went to the theater around 8:45. We bought our tickets about a week before the showing, and we were all hyped up and prepared to be a part of this awesome memorable event.

From the moment we entered the theater, we saw Harry Potter posters and the normal things you would expect in a regular movie theater. But then we also started seeing people dressed up in wizard robes and holding wands. It was a nice surprise and a welcome sight. We thought that no one would be there because, after all, Colorado isn't that crazy populated like LA, New York, Boston, or Chicago. We even got our tickets for both parts in 3D for 9 dollars per person. In LA, the same company sold tickets for 14.50, and I bet it went even higher. But I was wrong, we went into that fateful hall number 8 and we saw the whole room filled with people. After a big gasp, I started looking for seats, and we saw in the third row from the front, a couple in between 5 seats. They so nicely scooted so all 5 of us could sit in a row, and then we sat down and got settled.

The people were all really excited even though all of them had seen the first part of the 7th film. The commercials started, and the people were still having fun. The commercial for Cowboys and Aliens went on back to back which gave everyone a good laugh. Someone like right behind us shouted, "Now I REALLY want to see this film!" when the second time of the same commercial started. Haha... And then the awaited, "Feature Presentation" came on and the whole hall went completely silent.

The Warner Bros. logo flew by and we all put on our 3D glasses. The white tomb of Dumbledore flew open, and all the true fans of Harry Potter instantly knew something was wrong. We all thought that a commercial for the second part was coming on before the first part was going to show. But then all of a sudden, the screen paused, the lights turned on, and the Warner Bros. logo flew by again, this time not in 3D. o.O ok... The whole place cheered and shouted their desires to just watch the second part straightaway. But the theater people didn't listen and just went on to show Rufus Scrimgeour vowing to fight Voldemort.

Well we all had an awesome time, and since we all knew the movie well enough, we laughed when Ron said, "Hey~" and we cheered when Hermione picked up a bag and started hitting Ron after his "Hey~". Then we saw the white tomb open again, this time to signal the end of the first part, and we waited as the lights turned on and signaled the intermission... Overall this part was really fun, and it also was my first time watching the first part in an American theater. Esther and I went out midway for a bathroom break and to buy popcorn and drinks. It didn't matter cause we both knew the movie well enough~ And there would be no time for that during the next movie...
